Online play once Kelowna's floors close

When Playtime Casino Kelowna and Chances Casino Kelowna have both closed for the night, online play is what remains on the list. In British Columbia it has its own rules, set around PlayNow.com, the province's own online gambling site run by BCLC.

The law in plain words

The legal age for gambling in British Columbia is 19, and that includes casinos. PlayNow.com is run by BCLC. It is the province's own online gambling site.

B.C.'s gambling regulator is the Independent Gambling Control Office, or IGCO. It states that PlayNow.com is the only regulated commercial online gambling website permitted to operate in B.C. Other online gambling sites that accept B.C. players operate illegally in the province, the IGCO says. That leaves a short list for anyone in Kelowna once both floors have closed.

Chances and scam sites

Chances Casino Kelowna says it has not launched an online casino. It also warns about scam sites that use its name. A site borrowing the Chances name is not the casino on Springfield Road. The casino's own website is chanceskelowna.ca, and its phone number is 250-860-9577.

Self-exclusion, on and off the floor

Game Break is BCLC's voluntary self-exclusion program. It covers B.C. casinos and PlayNow.com alike. Terms run 6 months, 1 year, 2 years or 3 years, and a term cannot be changed once chosen. Enrolment happens in person at any casino with government-issued photo ID, and every B.C. casino has a GameSense Advisor.

The Ad links and who pays

Paid links appear on the home page of this guide and on no other page. Each is marked Ad. They sit in the menu, below the first screen and near the end. All go to one private online casino partner that pays the guide a commission.

The partner is not named here and can change. It is not PlayNow.com and has no connection with either casino, Gateway or BCLC. The IGCO's statement about other sites that accept B.C. players is set out above.
